About Janmashtami Puja

Janmashtami Puja is a sacred celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Observed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami in the month of Bhadrapada, the festival commemorates the divine appearance of Lord Krishna, who is revered as the embodiment of love, compassion, wisdom, righteousness, and divine joy. The puja is performed to seek Lord Krishna's blessings for peace, happiness, family harmony, good health, wisdom, devotion, and prosperity. Devotees celebrate the occasion by decorating a cradle (Jhula), singing devotional bhajans, chanting Krishna mantras, and performing the ceremonial Midnight Janmotsav, marking the divine birth of Lord Krishna. Many devotees observe a fast until midnight, after which the birth celebration is performed. The rituals include the worship of Bal Gopal (Baby Krishna), Panchamrit Abhishek, offering of Makhan-Mishri, fruits, sweets, and devotional singing. Janmashtami Puja is suitable for homes, temples, housing societies, schools, cultural organizations, and community celebrations. The ceremony brings families together in devotion while preserving the rich traditions associated with Lord Krishna. The exact rituals may vary according to family traditions and regional customs, and our Pandits conduct the puja accordingly.
