About Solah Somvar Udyapan Pujan

Solah Somvar Udyapan Pujan is the concluding ceremony performed after successfully observing the Sixteen Monday (Solah Somvar) Vrat dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The Udyapan signifies the respectful completion of the vrat with gratitude, devotion, and prayers for continued divine blessings. During the puja, Lord Ganesha is worshipped first, followed by the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees perform Abhishek of the Shiva Lingam, offer Bilva (Bel) leaves, flowers, fruits, Panchamrit, and Naivedya while chanting Shiva mantras and prayers. The ceremony is an opportunity to thank the Divine for the strength to complete the vrat and to seek blessings for peace, family harmony, good health, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Solah Somvar Udyapan is commonly performed by unmarried individuals, married couples, and families who have completed the vrat according to their faith and tradition. The puja can be conducted at home or in a temple and may include Rudrabhishek, Mahamrityunjaya Jaap, or Havan as optional additions.
